10 memorable places to stay in Rabat for solo travellers

Looking for the best places to stay in Rabat for solo travellers? The Moroccan capital can feel like a breath of fresh air after the organised chaos of Casablanca. In its Ville Nouvelle, you’ll find wide boulevards lined with colonial French buildings, while the historic medina is watched over by an atmospheric kasbah.

In my opinion, Rabat is somewhat of an underrated gem and not only because of its relaxed atmosphere, wonderful museums and safe streets. It also boasts an outstanding choice of riads and hotels, many of which cater well to solo travellers (as I’ve personally discovered).

Many of the medina’s historic riads have been transformed into heritage stays catering to mid-range and budget travellers. Plus, there’s a wide range of modern hotels from big-name international brands designed for business stays. A recent addition to the lineup is a magnificent seaside palace that has undergone a multi-million-dollar facelift. I dare say it’s now one of Morocco’s most sought-after luxury properties.

In this article, I’ll share some of the best places to stay in Rabat for solo travellers, whether you’re travelling on a tight budget or looking to splurge. Aside from hotels and riads in the heart of the medina, I’ve included a couple of modern properties in the nearby surroundings.
